Why Choose Our Sutton Coldfield Clinic

  • Purpose-built clinical rooms — not a rented therapy room. Our hearing centre was designed specifically for ear wax removal and audiology. Our industry is unregulated, where anyone can attend a two-day course, buy a suction unit and call themselves a wax removal practitioner. All patients are treated in a professional clinical environment with medical-grade, single-use instruments and strict infection control protocols to minimise risk.
  • Endoscopic vision, not guesswork. We do not use cheap equipment to visualize the ear canal. We use medical grade 4k HD endoscopes to view the es canal up to the depth of the eardrum. This view is not compromised by using cheap dental loupes which most clinics still insist on using.
  • HCPC-registered audiologists. Every procedure at our Sutton Coldfield clinic is carried out by an HCPC-registered audiologist with peer reviewed training, not by a technician after a weekend course.
  • Same-day appointments, . Open Monday to Saturday , 9am–5pm, with free parking directly on site.

Is microsuction better than ear syringing?
Microsuction is considered the gold standard. We remove your earwax under a direct endoscopic view on a 50 inch tv screen. You can watch the procedure live. This allows for a more precise, painless procedure. We also offer modern water irrigation using saine solution only when it is a safer clinical option. A example of this would be very soft ear wax adhered to the eardrum.
We advise One to two days of olive oil drops to help helps soften ear wax but this is not always required. Many of our patients come in for same day ear wax removal without having used drops and we can remove ear wax effectively. If we feel oil is required we will book a second appointment free of charge always providing a strict risk assessment protocol before proceeding.

Avoid using drops for longer than a few days. Overuse of drops can cause ear wax to slip on to the eardrum and completely seal the ear canal. If your ear is already fully blocked, just book in and we’ll assess it.
We provide ear wax removal for children between the ages of 5-10 years old. We have found this to be the age where you generally find smaller ear canals which are more difficult to navigate. All of our audiologists have performed a significant caseload of procedures with children before deemed competent.
Yes, we have free on-site parking directly outside the clinic at Sutton Oak Corner, Streetly.

We always advice a qualified Audiologist or a practitioner nurse with experience in ear nose and throat. Any other practitioner with a background not in Audiology simply wont have the experience to deal with complex difficult cases and you usually want a audiologist with 100’s of ear wax removal procedures under their belt. We say this because unfortunately due to the unregulated nature of the training you could potentially be having a invasive procedure undertaken by a non audiologist with no previous experience in audiological medicine.

Need more than wax removal? Our Sutton Coldfield centre also provides hearing assessments and provides free trials of the latest hearing aid technology on the market. interlink to sutton coldfield hearing aids page
