Ear Wax Removal Hall Green

We look after Hall Green patients from our Birmingham Hearing Care clinic on Haunch Lane in Kings Heath — around a mile and a half away, or five minutes by car. Appointments are led by our HCPC-registered audiologists, and most patients are seen the same day.

We use endoscopic microsuction — the no-water, gold-standard method. A slim endoscope gives us a magnified, direct view of your ear canal and eardrum throughout the procedure, so nothing is done blind. Where microsuction is not the best fit, we use gentle irrigation or manual instrumentation instead.

Every appointment includes otoscopy before and after, an explanation of what we find, tailored aftercare advice, and video of the procedure on request. All instruments are single-use and medical grade.

Typical appointment time is 15–30 minutes. Most patients notice the difference immediately. If we examine your ears and find no wax, there is no charge for the removal — you only pay the consultation fee.

Why Endoscopic Microsuction Is the Safest Way to Clear Your Ears

Traditional syringing flushes the ear blind, with warm water and no view of what is happening inside. Endoscopic microsuction is the opposite: a magnified camera view of your ear canal throughout, and a fine medical suction pen that lifts the wax out without introducing any water. That means no soaking, no pressure against the eardrum, and a much lower risk of infection or trauma. It is the method recommended for patients with a history of perforation, grommets, ear surgery, or recurrent ear infections — and it is what we use as standard.

HCPC-Registered Audiologists With 30 Years of Clinical Experience

Every procedure at our Haunch Lane clinic is carried out by an HCPC-registered audiologist, not a technician. Our lead clinicians have three decades of experience across ear care, diagnostic audiology and hearing aid prescribing, and thousands of wax removals behind them. Because we are fully independent, our advice is not tied to any manufacturer or product range — we recommend what is right for your ears. HCPC registration number: HAD00756.

Where do Hall Green patients go for ear wax removal?
We see Hall Green patients at our Birmingham Hearing Care clinic, 310 Haunch Lane, Kings Heath B13 0QS — about a mile and a half away, or five minutes by car via Chinn Brook Road or Yardley Wood Road. There is free on-site parking with no restrictions.
Ear wax removal is £40 for one ear and £60 for both ears. There are no add-on charges. If we examine your ears and find no wax, you are not charged for a removal that did not happen — we will explain what is causing your symptoms and what to do next.
No. You can book directly online or by calling 0121 369 0780. Most patients are seen the same day or within 24 to 48 hours.
Microsuction uses a fine medical suction device to lift wax out of the ear, guided by a magnified endoscopic view of the canal and eardrum. Because no water is used, there is no pressure against the eardrum and no risk of trapped moisture causing infection afterwards. Syringing is done without a clear view of the canal, which is why microsuction is now considered the safer option and is what we use as standard.
A few drops of olive oil for two or three days beforehand usually helps, as softer wax lifts out more easily. Do not overdo it, though — heavy use of drops can turn wax into a sticky liquid that slides down onto the eardrum and seals the canal, which is harder to clear, not easier. If you are unsure, call us before you start.
Most appointments take 15 to 30 minutes from start to finish, including the examination before and after. Very stubborn or impacted wax occasionally takes longer, and we will not rush it — the time is included in the price.
Yes, we offer paediatric ear wax removal subject to assessment. Children need to be able to stay still for the procedure, so we will talk it through with you first and take a look before deciding whether to go ahead.
In most cases yes, and microsuction is usually the preferred method for exactly these patients because no water enters the ear. Tell us about your history when you book so we can assess it properly on the day. If we judge that removal is not safe for you, we will say so and advise on the right route instead.
