Ear Wax Removal Stourbridge

Our Stourbridge clinic sits inside the Stourbridge Osteopathic and Acupuncture Clinic on Lawn Avenue, minutes from Mary Stevens Park and the town centre. Appointments are led by our HCPC-registered audiologist Danish Mushtaq, and most patients are seen the same day.

We use endoscopic microsuction which is a level above normal microsuction where most practitioners use dental loupes.  The use of endoscopic cameras allows us to remove deeper in the ear canal without causing discomfort.

Every appointment will include an otoscopic examination and a full case history.  We ensure that we show you the procedure before and after and provide a video of the procedure if you would like at no extra charge.

A typical appointment lasts up to 30 minutes.  If we find no wax we only charge you a consultation fee of £20

Professional Title / Designation:

Resident Hearing Aid Dispenser

About the Author:

Danish joined us in 2024 as our resident Hearing aid dispenser at our Streetly practice bringing extensive experience gained across the major high street chains. This background has given him a appreciation of what good independant care should be.

Danish was very experienced with the microsuction procedure before joining us which then progressed on to endoscopic microsuction training with us in house.

Alongside the clinical work Danish heads our training programme, teaching doctors and nurses beat practise in microsuction ear wax removal.

Danish is well regarded by all our patients for his attentiveness, thoroughness, and straightforward, reassuring approach.

Away from the clinic Danish is a keen Padel player and is currently working on his footwork to move around the court more efficiently- a project he’ll happily tell you is still very much in progress

How much does ear wax removal cost in Stourbridge?
Ear wax removal is £50 for one ear and £70 for both ears at our Stourbridge clinic. There are no add-on charges. If we examine your ears and find no wax, you are not charged for a removal that did not happen — we will explain what is causing your symptoms and what to do next.
No. You can book directly online or by calling 0121 369 0780. Most patients in Stourbridge are seen the same day or within 24 to 48 hours.
Microsuction uses a fine medical suction device to lift wax out of the ear, guided by a magnified endoscopic view of the canal and eardrum. Because no water is used, there is no pressure against the eardrum and no risk of trapped moisture causing infection afterwards. Syringing is done without a clear view of the canal, which is why microsuction is now considered the safer option and is what we use as standard.
A few drops of olive oil for two or three days beforehand usually helps, as softer wax is easier to remove then denser harder plugs of ear wax. We request our patients tnot to use excessive oil because it can cause ear wax to soften to an extent where it slides on to the eardrum. If you are unsure give us a call beforehand and we can talk you through this.
In the majority of cases this is the safest way to remove ear wax from an ear with a history of infection or operations. In house we deal with complex and advanced cases with mastoidectomies, however if we judge that removal is not safe for you, we will say so and advise on the right route instead.
Most appointments take 15 to 30 minutes. We do not rush and ensure each procedure is given due care and time. Stubborn ear wax can be more difficult to remove however our audiologists are adept at using manual instrumentation or irrigation to remove earwax if needed
Yes, subject to assessment. We treat children from 5- 12 years of age plus. The procedure is always completed by audiologists with extensive experience working with children. We always complete risk assessment to ensure the child can sit still and will be comfortable with procedure before proceeding.
We are at the Stourbridge Osteopathic and Acupuncture Clinic, 15–17 Lawn Avenue, Stourbridge DY8 3UR. There is free parking directly outside and step-free disabled access. Stourbridge Junction is about a mile away.
