Endoscopic microsuction

The safest and cleanest way to remove ear wax from moderately blocked ears is the microsuction method. A probe is gently inserted then connected to a vacuum pump to suction out the excess wax from the ear canal.

This is safer, gentler and more effective technology than the old “syringing” method.
With water irrigation, body temperature (37°C) water is used to flush debris out of the ear canal at a low pressure.

Zoya is proficient across all areas of a independant hearing practise. Her calm and unhurried manner puts all.our patients at ease especially those nervous about there first appointment. Zoya is also experienced with fitting and dispensing hearing aids from the worlds leading manufacturers.

The clinical team is made up entirely of HCPC registered hearing aid dispensers with a minimum of 500 microsuction procedures conducted. Consequently, this makes them very skilled and highly experienced with the micro suction procedure. The use of endoscopic microsuction allows us to remove wax from the eardrum effectively, a procedure that can only be performed with a high level of experience and training. We also provide a mobile home visit service for patients with mobility issues in the community. This service is essentially the same procedure you would receive in any of our clinics. All our equipment is portable so if need be we can see you in your home for the procedure. All appointments can be made through our practice manager Jo Mooney who will happily book you in for your consultation with us. ** Home visit available

Ear wax removal costs £50 for one ear or £70 for both ears. This includes examination, the procedure and aftercare. If we find no ear wax we charge a £20 consultation charge
Microsuction is the gold standard: wax is removed under direct endoscopic vision using gentle suction, with no water involved. However ear irrigation or manual instruments sometimes have to be used as an alternative if there are contraindications to microsuction. This is usually if excessive drops have been used causing ear wax to slide on to the eardrum or keratosis or dead skin which may require manual instruments.
Yes. Our equipment is completely portable so our audiologists can come to you for ear wax removal. You can book this through Allison our secretary on 0121 369 0780.
One to two days of drops can help soften ear wax to help make the procedure more comfortable. Please don’t overuse drops as it can sometimes make the procedure more difficult.
Ear wax removal is unregulated industry and such should be carried out by a practitioner with suitable expertise. We would consider this to be someone with at least 100 procedures conducted safely.
