What an amazing day. Really Informative and the live practice instills a confidence I didn't believe I would find. Manoj's laidback, relaxed way of teaching is excellent. You are made to feel welcome from the moment you arrive. I just cannot praise the staff and the course here enough. If you are looking for a change if career then this is definitely worth a look. You will not be disappointed.

Ear wax removal course — frequently asked questions

How much does the ear wax removal training course cost?

The ear wax removal course costs £549. This price covers tuition and supervised practice on real patients, as well as your CPD-accredited certificate. In addition, equipment packages are available separately, and a 3-month interest-free instalment plan is available for all course and equipment packages.

How many people are on each course?

Groups are small, with three to four learners per trainer, so everyone gets hands-on time and close supervision throughout the practical day.

Do I practise on real patients?

Yes. After working on training heads, you progress to supervised practice on real, consenting patients that we select case by case. As a result, you see different wax textures and ear canal shapes.

Who can take the course?

We designed it for UK-registered clinicians, including nurses, hearing care assistants, pharmacists, doctors and audiologists. However, you must work within your own professional scope, governance and indemnity.

What certificate will I receive?

You receive a Certificate of Training in Microsuction Ear Wax Removal, which shows your supervised training and assessed competence. In addition, the CPD Certification Service accredits our course (Provider No. 17822).

Can I start practising straight after the course?

That depends on your professional registration, as well as your employer’s governance arrangements and your indemnity insurance. We recommend confirming cover with your insurer before you begin, and we provide your certificate and syllabus to support that conversation.

How long is the training day?

The course runs from 9.00am to 4.30pm, so you have maximum time to practise and refine your technique.

Do you cover both microsuction and irrigation?

Yes. We teach you both microsuction and water irrigation, the two core methods of ear wax removal. We also cover otoscopy, contraindications and when to refer on.

Ear Syringing Training Learning Outcomes | Ear Wax Removal Training Course

The Training Will Cover The Following Principles

  • Ear infection pathologies and contraindications for the microsuction procedure.
  • Common ear pathologies
  • Difficult cases and when to refer on to allied professionals
  • Contraindications
  • Ear irrigation using Bionix as an alternative to microsuction
  • Ear irrigation using the Propulse irrigator
  • Record keeping, gaining consent
  • Microsuction consumables and instrumentation
  • Using loupes as well as variations with different magnifications
  • Live clinic to allow for both observation and practise on real patients!
  • Ear anatomy and physiology
  • Infection control, cross-infection and single-use instruments, and how to minimise risk
  • Professional indemnity insurance and which insurer to choose
  • On successful completion you receive a Certificate of Training in Microsuction Ear Wax Removal, evidencing supervised training and assessed competence. Whether you can perform microsuction in your own practice depends on your professional registration, your employer's governance arrangements and your indemnity insurance — we recommend confirming cover with your insurer before you begin practising. We are happy to provide your certificate and syllabus to support that conversation.

  • The course costs £549, with a 3-month interest-free instalment plan available

Microsuction Training: What to Expect

Why Train in Microsuction Now

  • Experienced microsuction audiologists run our microsuction ear wax removal training programme. In fact, they see over 20,000 ears a year, so they are very experienced with both routine and complex microsuction cases.
  • Ear wax removal is one of the fastest-growing areas in healthcare. Over 4 million procedures take place each year, and the market is still growing fast, especially with an ageing population.
  • There is a huge demand for microsuction services nationally, and demand is outstripping the capacity to see every patient who needs the service. That is why now is the ideal time to provide a much-needed service in your community.

Where the Ear Wax Removal Course Takes Place

  • Our earwax removal courses are Midlands based, at our two purpose-built clinical training centres in Sutton Coldfield and Moseley. Unlike some providers, we do not train you in conference centres or hotel suites. Instead, these are clinical sites for a clinical procedure.
  • We are aware of expensive training programmes that rely solely on dummy training, synthetic wax, hotel conference rooms and training en masse. These programmes then sign you off without you ever practising on a real human ear. As a result, many professionals have called us after paying for a second course to develop the skills and confidence they actually need. That is why we limit our numbers and spend weeks between courses finding the patients you will need on the day. Think twice, pay once!
  • Courses run in small groups of three to four learners per trainer, so you get maximum exposure to your clinical tutor and practical practice on real patients. This also gives you the time you need to get up to speed with microsuction loupes. We want to provide a course with real value and real practical application for healthcare professionals, so we limit the places on each course.

Course Cost and What You Learn

  • The cost of the ear wax removal course is £549. The course also includes ear irrigation training along with the microsuction procedure, because competence in both procedures is paramount for a good all-round ear wax removal practitioner. As a result, you get the value you need without paying for separate courses. After all, you need both methods to remove ear wax effectively on a case-by-case basis, so we train you on both on the same day.
  • There is now a 3-month interest-free instalment plan for all course and equipment packages, so you can spread the cost of your setup as you build your business.
  • All delegates practise on real patients. In fact, we go to great lengths to give our delegates relevant exposure to real cases coming into clinic. First, you observe typical patients coming in for ear wax removal, and then you take part in removing ear wax on real patients.

7 Reasons To Choose Ear Wax Specialist
As Your Training Provider?

01

We provide training on microsuction ear wax removal and water irrigation, equipping you with the two core methods in successful ear wax removal.

02

The course is supported by bespoke online presentations, given to delegates on the day of their training.

03

We can travel to you. If you're unable to reach one of our dedicated training centres, we'll send a regional trainer to your clinic and train the whole team.

04

Multiple training locations and flexible dates to suit you.

05

The course is delivered by experienced microsuction audiologists, so you can be confident you have the best trainers teaching you.

06

Small-group training, with three to four learners per trainer. We don't train large groups, because that doesn't give each delegate the time and attention they deserve.

07

Practise on volunteer patients who have specifically expressed an interest in participating in your training course. A volunteer patient will always be made completely aware that a trainee practitioner will be performing the procedure under the direct supervision of our trained practitioner. Consent is always obtained from our volunteer patients before your training day.
