No sound or a dead hearing aid
Usually a blocked wax filter, a failed receiver (speaker) or a power fault. We trace the cause and put it right.

Birmingham hearing aid repair · Kings Heath & Sutton Coldfield
Hearing aid gone quiet, whistling or refusing to charge? Our HCPC-registered audiologists repair every make and model – Phonak, Oticon, Starkey, Signia, Widex and more – for one fixed fee of £200 per hearing aid, with a 6-month warranty on every repair.
Common faults we fix:
When a hearing aid stops working, everyday life gets harder overnight – conversations, phone calls and the TV all suffer. Our hearing aid repair service is designed to get you hearing clearly again as quickly as possible. Book a same-day appointment and an HCPC-registered audiologist will find the fault and, in many cases, fix it while you wait.
As an independent practice we are not tied to any one manufacturer, so we repair hearing aids bought from us, from high-street chains, online or from another independent – in or out of warranty. Repairs are carried out at our two hearing centres: Birmingham Hearing Care in Kings Heath and Sutton Hearing Care in Sutton Coldfield.
Need more than a repair? We also provide hearing tests and private hearing aids in Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield, plus professional ear wax removal – often the hidden cause of a whistling or blocked-sounding hearing aid.

One clear, fixed price – whatever the make, model or fault.
The same fixed price whether we repair your hearing aid in clinic or send it to the manufacturer's repair lab.
Is ear wax causing the problem? Wax build-up is one of the most common reasons a hearing aid whistles or sounds blocked. Our ear wax removal costs £50 for one ear or £70 for both – see ear wax removal in Birmingham.
Price is per hearing aid. Some very old models are no longer supported by their manufacturer – if parts aren't available, we'll explain your options before any work starts.
Whatever the symptom, the same fixed £200 repair fee applies. Curious how the parts fit together? Read our guide to hearing aid components.
Usually a blocked wax filter, a failed receiver (speaker) or a power fault. We trace the cause and put it right.
Often a loose or worn dome, a cracked tube or shell, ear wax, or settings that need adjusting.
Blocked microphone ports, moisture or a tired receiver can make speech sound dull, distorted or cut in and out.
Charging faults on rechargeable models – from dirty contacts and charger problems to batteries that no longer hold their charge.
Pairing problems with phones, TVs and streamers. We reset, re-pair and update firmware where the manufacturer allows.
On receiver-in-canal (RIC) hearing aids, the thin wire and speaker are the parts most likely to fail. We can usually replace them in clinic.
Damage from drops, pets or being stepped on – repaired in clinic or rebuilt by the manufacturer.
Behind-the-ear (BTE) tubing hardens and splits over time, and filters clog. We replace them as part of every repair.
Moisture is one of the biggest causes of hearing aid failure. We dry, clean and test the aid and replace damaged parts.
We repair all major hearing aid brands and styles – receiver-in-canal (RIC), behind-the-ear (BTE), in-the-ear (ITE), in-the-canal (ITC), completely-in-canal (CIC), invisible-in-canal (IIC) and CROS – both rechargeable and battery-powered.
Infinio (including Audéo Sphere Infinio), Lumity, Paradise and Marvel ranges – Audéo RIC, Naída BTE, Virto custom in-ear, Sky children's aids and CROS.
Reveal, Intent, Zeal, Real, More, Opn S, Jet, Play and Own – miniRITE, BTE and custom in-ear styles.
Omega AI, Edge AI, Genesis AI, Evolv AI and Livio – from RIC and BTE to custom ITE, ITC, CIC and IIC models.
MaX, IX, AX and X platforms – Pure Charge&Go, Styletto, Motion Charge&Go, Silk Charge&Go, Insio custom aids, Active Pro and CROS.
Allure, SmartRIC, Moment Sheer, Moment and Evoke – RIC, BTE and custom in-ear models.
We also repair ReSound, Unitron, Bernafon, Rexton and other brands. Not sure what you have? Bring it in and we'll identify it for you.

We inspect and test your hearing aid – and check your ears for wax if needed – to pinpoint the fault.
Many faults are fixed during your visit. If specialist lab work is needed, we send your aid to the manufacturer and manage everything for you.
We check your hearing aid is working properly before you take it home, and the repair is covered for 6 months.
Some problems have a simple fix you can try at home. If these don't help, book a repair and we'll take it from there.
Whistling – or acoustic feedback – happens when amplified sound escapes from your ear canal and is picked up again by the hearing aid's microphone, creating a loop. The usual culprits are a loose or wrong-sized dome, ear wax, a cracked tube or shell, or settings that need adjusting. If your hearing aid keeps whistling after you've reinserted it and fitted a new dome, it's time for a repair appointment.
Sudden hearing loss in one or both ears needs urgent medical advice – contact your GP or NHS 111 the same day. See your GP too if you have ear pain, discharge or dizziness.
Most hearing aids last around five to seven years. If yours is younger than that, still suits your hearing and parts are available, a repair is usually the best-value option. It may be time to consider an upgrade if:
We'll give you honest advice either way. If an upgrade makes more sense, our audiologists can arrange a hearing assessment and hearing aid trial in Birmingham. You can also read our guide to rechargeable vs battery hearing aids.
Manufacturer and high-street warranties usually run for a few years, and some providers stop servicing hearing aids once they expire. We repair out-of-warranty hearing aids of any make for the same fixed £200 fee – with a 6-month warranty on the repair.

NHS hearing aids are loaned to you and remain the property of the NHS, so repairs, retubing and batteries are provided free by your NHS audiology department. Our repair service is for privately owned hearing aids. If your NHS hearing aid is whistling or sounds blocked, ear wax may be the cause – our ear wax removal starts from £50.
Whistling (feedback) happens when amplified sound leaks out of your ear and is picked up again by the microphone. A loose or worn dome, ear wax, a cracked tube or shell, or settings that need adjusting are the usual causes. If it keeps whistling after you've reinserted it and changed the dome, book a repair.
The most common causes are a blocked wax filter, a flat or faulty battery, moisture damage and a failed receiver (speaker). Try a new wax filter and a full charge or fresh battery first; if it still isn't working, we can diagnose and repair it.
Yes. Every hearing aid repair we carry out comes with a 6-month warranty on the repair.
We recommend booking so an audiologist is ready for you, and same-day appointments are available Monday to Saturday. Call 0121 369 0780, message us on WhatsApp or book online.
If your hearing aid is under five years old and still suits your hearing, repairing it is usually the best value. If it's more than five to seven years old, keeps breaking down or your hearing has changed, an upgrade may serve you better – we'll give you honest advice either way.
